ABOUT MAIDAN
Free education. Real change.
Since 2017, Maidan has delivered free, high-quality education to financially challenged families across Karachi — equipping children with foundational literacy and giving women the skills to support a household.
In literal sense ‘Maidan’ means ‘playground’. Maidan started as a young girl’s thesis journey and a simple dream to educate underprivileged Pakistani children through playful activities. Over 2 years down the road, Maidan has turned into a non-profit organization running 3 small education centres (called Taleem Ghars) in rural areas of Karachi.
What We Do
Two programs. One mission: opportunity.
Taleem Ghar
A targeted accelerated-learning curriculum that closes the literacy gap fast — equipping children with the reading and writing skills to succeed in school and beyond.
- FOR: Children aged 5 – 13
- CURRICULUM: Reading, writing, numeracy, science — taught in English and Urdu
- TUITION: Always 100% free
Silai Ghar (Vocational)
Hands-on classes equip women and girls with a real, income-generating trade — so they can support their families with dignity and stand on their own.
- FOR: Women and girls from underserved communities
- SKILLS: Tailoring, beauty, and computer literacy
- TUITION: Always 100% free
